More About Me

Welcome, friends! As stated above, my name is Megan. I have a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences and have been a zookeeper for 5 years, but have had a lifelong passion for animals. In addition to the conservation and education that AZA zoos provide, I felt personally called to find more ways to contribute to the well being of some of the world’s most endangered animals (who also happen to be some of my favorite animals)! I am a creative person who enjoys bringing whimsical and even silly ideas to life, so it is my pleasure to share my brain-children with you, while also benefitting conservation efforts. In addition to these passions, I am a music fiend and an avid gamer (when I have time)! I also love gardening and just being outside in general. I am newly married and we share 3 fur kids- 2 cats named Nala and Naomi and a Russian tortoise named Appletun. My husband is also a zookeeper! I hope that whether you are in the zoo field yourself, or are simply another animal lover, you will find something that brings you joy while making a difference.

Our Logo

You may be wondering whose footprints those are at the center of my logo. They belonged to my pet mouse Tofu, who passed in 2023. Most people have had a dog or a cat in their life that holds a special place in their heart above the rest. For me, that animal was Tofu. I like to call him my “soul-mouse”. The bond we shared was the strongest I’ve experienced with any animal I’ve cared for, and I’ve cared for a lot of animals! He was my lil bestie for the restie, my constant companion during a difficult time in my life. Even though he is gone (mice don’t live long enough), I carry him with me in my heart. This is why I wanted to honor him with every piece of art I make. I like the idea that he has a part in making my dreams come true!
